MeshCAD was developed to provide a simple interface for reviewing FEM and CAD data, Screening FEA results, and Completing quick XLSX hand calcs live on the geometry. It reads NASTRAN bulk data (including INCLUDE files) and HDF5 results, STEP and IGES CAD geometry, and will write out XLSX hand calcs for checks you set-up on the actual mesh and/or CAD geometry.
It's intuitive and lean. Filling in the gaps for analysts, eliminating the need to learn multiple tools, and getting you to results faster — a quick utility to keep things moving forward.
Before you run it
First launch takes a minute. The very first time you open MeshCAD after installing, Windows Defender (or your antivirus) scans the application — this can take up to a minute on a slower machine. Every launch after that opens normally, in a few seconds.
The palettes
- Intuitive Navigation. Menu-driven, with typical trackpad/mouse navigation — pinch to zoom, Ctrl+left-click to rotate, Shift+left-click to pan.
- Groups and Visibility. Quickly isolate and expand geometry and FEM data, with automatic group creation for NASTRAN bulk-data INCLUDE files.
- Geometry Overlay. Navigate the CAD data tree natively, move parts, and align them based on local reference points.
- Loads Utility. Scale and sum applied loads to quickly create free-body diagrams.
- Mesh Utility. Move nodes (coming soon), update element connectivity (coming soon), and review element normals, material direction, and quality.
- Measure & Section. Take measurements and create section cuts / properties of CAD and FEM data.
- Stress Analysis Utilities. Beam Column, Continuous Beam, Panel Buckling, and Fastener Pattern checks, with a live, editable XLSX hand-calc report generated straight from the model.
- FEM Results: Combinations. Combine NASTRAN/OptiStruct HDF5 solver result output into load-case combinations. In development.
- FEM Results: Screening. Screen a combination's peak result values across a selected set of elements/nodes. In development.
